Description:
David S. Ludwig, MD, Ph.D., is a practicing endocrinologist and researcher at Boston Children's Hospital, Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, and Professor of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health. Described as an "obesity warrior" by Time magazine, Dr. Ludwig has been featured in the New York Times and on NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN, and several other media outlets. His best-selling book — Always Hungry?: Conquer Cravings, Retrain Your Fat Cells, and Lose Weight Permanently — explores why diets don't work and rewrites the rules on weight loss, diet, and health. The book includes a practical approach to cooking and meal planning to create a new strategy to improve health.
Dr. Ludwig was a featured speaker at our Ambition Nutrition Symposium in May, and now George Brown College is bringing him back by popular demand and exploring his book in our kitchens. In this special workshop series, students will prepare recipes from Always Hungry? and discover the science behind weight gain as explored by Dr. Ludwig. You'll learn core concepts and practice meal planning as outlined in this revolutionary book, which is included when you register for the workshop series. In the first class, you'll participate in a cooking demonstration and lecture with Dr. Ludwig and recipe developer Chef Dawn Ludwig, before returning to the lab to prepare more meals. The next two Saturdays will continue the exploration of his meal planning strategies, working with our chef instructor Ema Costantini. By mastering the recipes from the book, you'll learn about his scientific and highly practical approach to healthy eating.
You will also receive a special email invitation to join an in-depth lecture with Dr. Ludwig on Friday, November 11. Attend this one-of-a-kind lecture to learn more about his research and the writing of Always Hungry? and prepare for the workshop classes.
